Sleep, our state of suspended activity and metabolic depression, is best characterized by the word hibernation. However, there are instances where abnormal or undesirable activities occur. Talking, walking, cooking, paralyzation, and hallucinations are a few presentations. This presentation will facilitate an understanding of parasomnias and their correlation with nocturnal breathing disturbance and sleep deprivation.
1. Participants will be able to describe types of hallucinations.
2. Participants will be able to state the various types of parasomnias.
3. Participants will be able to explain how disrupted sleep architecture may result in parasomnias.

Ken Hooks, RRT, RPSGT is a Registered Respiratory Therapist and Registered Polysomnographic Technician in Greenville,
South Carolina. He is the owner/operator of True Sleep Diagnostics, mail order sleep testing. He has 8 years of
experience working in every facet of sleep diagnostics.
